Biodiversity initiatives

The Parish Council is currently considering three new initiatives to help increase biodiversity within the village. Details are in the newsletter and on the village notice board with the outline proposals set out here:

WI proposal to close off the unused bus shelter with a door, providing access for swallows, bats and insects at the top. A planter and bug hotel to be placed at the front. The WI will be responsible for maintaining these.

PC proposal to use part of the land behind the cemetery and adjacent to the cricket pitch for a community orchard with wildflower underplanting. This is a project supported by the Grubs Up! team at NYMNP. The area will be separated from the cricket pitch with a hedge/grazing fence and will be accessed via the footpath at the side of the cemetery.

Resident proposal to use the remainder of the land behind the cemetery for biodiversity that will be accessible to all - wildflowers, shallow pond, native planting, mown pathways - together with a small area for an allotment and personal use.

If you would like to comment on these proposals please email the Clerk by Friday 27th June.
